Day 1:
Today was my first day at work. I meet the owner of the shop Earle and he is really nice. Me and him get along fine. I also meet Braden today. He is also really awesome and he rides dirt bikes so i know someone who speaks my language!!! At the beginning i rotated some tires and did a oil change. After that I stated to scrub away the rust on my LINK project, the buggy. I did this from about 10 to 5 with lunch in between. Even though it wasn't a hard task it was long and boring. It was still better than school though.
Day 2:
Today I went strait to work. We started off with a oil change and tire rotation. After that I helped Braden fix a bearing on a GMC truck that had been badly damaged. After that I did another tire rotation and also learned how to use a wheel balancer and remover and switched out tire on a Four Runner. After that I helped change the glow plugs on a truck and did another oil change on a van. The last thing we did at the end of the day was replace a diff lock on a toyota. I learned a lot today and am slowly better at working around the shop.
Day 3:
After today I already have thirty hours loged in work. At the beginning of the day we were one person short so we did mostly oil changes and tire rotations on trucks. Right before lunch we finished installing the diff lock on the toyota. After lunch braden was back so we bleeder the brakes on a truck and also changed out some tires on a tacoma. After work we hung out at the shop till 7:30 ands then went to play dodge ball. All I can say is my arm is shot. Tonight im going to look at different types of grille guards for my truck for a side project.
Day 4:
Today was another pretty easy day. I started out with doing a couple oil changes. Then later on me and braden installed a lift kit on a jeep from Texas. It was pretty easy at first but it kept getting harder as we went into it .IN the end we got it done though and got done with it. Next week the rims should get in for it.
Day 5:
After a 3 day weekend i was egger to get back to work. The whole week seems pretty crowded and i dont think we will have to much time to work on the dune buggy. but as usual i did a couple oil changes. Then i started to design my bumper so i could have a design I am proud of. During the last part of the day I started to work on a toyota that needed some work. It needed new brakes, front diff, and oil change.
Day 6:
Today was me just assisting with bigger jobs. I helped eric work with a master control modual on some type of sedan. Then i helped braden look at a couple cars and figure out some problems with them. The last thing I did today was instal a metal bumper onto a dodge truck. It was harder than believed though because some of the holes were not in the right place so we had to drill new holes. I am starting to get more of a general idea when working on cars. i can fallow my instinct more.
Day 7:
Today was a hard day. Like usual I did some oil changes and little jobs like that. IT was hard because I just kept messing up. I almost broke a 300 dollar tire and then I scratched up a 500 dolor rim. I also I am still having troubles with installing and balancing tires. I am keeping my head up though and I am going to keep doing my best.
Day 8:
This was probably my easiest day so far. I worked on the dune buggy by more sanding and finding out what it needed and only did about 2 oil changes all day. The other thing I did was sand down the metal for my bumper and like each day, clean the shop.
Day 9:
This is my last week so i am making the most about it. I did the same as always with nothing else really interesting. We have a bunch of packages still here but nothing else.
Day 10:
Today was pretty much just a project day. we worked on the dune buggy some more and on a jeep with installing both a front and rear metal bumper. That took a little bit. Then the rest of the day i worked on my new bumper. Eric bended most of the metal because it is a very expensive peicveof machinery to do so. Then i started to make cardboard cutouts for the gaps.
Day 11:
Today was my last day and it was a really easy day. Besides a couple oil changes and a
cleaning up the shop I just worked on my bumper. With the help of Eric I learned how to weld and did the majority of welding on the back side while he did most of the front so it would look professional. Lastly i painted the bumper with truck bed liner and installed it on my truck.
