This Unachievable Goal
I see us all saying this same thing
This unachievable goal
And just like trying to clutch an object from a 3d movie, it is not possible
Just like the tale of Perseus
Conquering the frightening kraken
With the head of medusa
It is a myth, not reality
Yet we still strive towards this goal;
We run towards it
But it is just our deepest desires held out in front of us
We are Relentless on the idea,
That we will achieve this thing we want.
Just how we are inexorable to make this never ending fable real
A fairytale that man kind has fabricated
Still, this is real to us
Like a child playing with his imaginary friend
Even though it is just a fragment of imagination
Yet just because it is imaginary,
Does that mean it is unethical.
I see the world becoming peaceable,
I see a goal towards equality,
I see people volunteering to make a difference in their community,
I see countries raising olive branches instead of guns,
I see a child giving a homeless dog a home, food, and love.
So is this a falsehood
Or is it just like a mom saying to her child
That she will live forever,
Even when she has been diagnosed with cancer
That lie, gives the child faith
Just how this myth,
Gives our world the faith to be virtuousness
This one fairytale
The desire that is held out in front of us that we crave
The myth that is as impossible as the tale of Perseus
Is peace, and it can only be imagined
